Karina Ashcroft

Karina specialises in asset finance transactions, with an emphasis on the aviation and shipping markets. She also has tremendous project development experience in the oil and gas industry.

 

In 1994, she began her career in the aviation sector including a stint at Airbus in Toulouse (France). She then joined the aviation team at Freshfields, where she worked in its London, Rome and Paris offices for almost a decade. During this time, she represented leading international banks in cross-border ECA and tax-based aircraft financing and leasing, as well as shipping.

 

She later became senior counsel at the energy group TOTAL (Paris) as senior counsel and advised multiple business units on all aspects of acquisitions, joint ventures and project finance; notably in Exploration & Production.

 

She acts for international financial institutions and high net worth individuals in all spheres of super yacht and business jet activities. She is also involved in transactions in the energy sector.

 

Karina holds an LLB in English and Spanish Law from The University of Kent at Canterbury (England) and read her Legal Practice Course at The College of Law, Guildford (England). Karina is bilingual in English and Spanish, fluent in French and also works in Italian.

Jérôme Cohen

Jérôme has developed a unique experience in asset finance and acquisition transactions, with an emphasis on the yachting, shipping and business jet markets.

 

He represents many of the leading international banks, as well as borrowers, active in financing deals (pre and post delivery). This covers super yachts (pleasure and commercial) and business jet deals as well as commercial tonnage.

 

Jérôme also has enormous experience negotiating shipbuilding contracts and represents ship owners in transactions involving European, Asian and American shipyards. He also acts for yacht owners in the acquisition or sale of yachts, structuring their ownership, VAT and customs-related issues as well as chartering, crewing and other operational aspects.

 

His practice also includes the sale, acquisition and financing of business jets, operation and management agreements and related topics. He also advises his clients in premium real estate projects.

 

Jérôme has practiced for over 15 years in leading shipping and aviation law firms such as Clifford Chance, Watson Farley & Williams and Ince & Co, and worked as in-house counsel to Airbus. Jérôme holds a law degree from the Sorbonne University (Paris) and obtained his LLM in Air & Space Law from McGill University (Montreal). He is fluent in French and English, and works in Spanish and Italian.
